Here are 10 ideas to enjoy the weekend (July 6 and July 7):20130705-114256.jpg

  1. Get artsy at the San Diego Fringe Festival all weekend long. It started on Monday and has already brought many performances, art, workshops and more to locations around SD. Check out all the offerings before the Festival ends on Sunday.
  2. Exhibits. Opening this weekend: ElasmoBeach at Birch Aquarium (opened Thursday) and Mammoths and Mastodons: Titans of the Ice Age at San Diego Natural History Museum (opened Thursday). Closing this weekend: Piranesi, Rome and the Arts of Design at The San Diego Museum of Art.
  3. Drink up at the San Diego Beer Fest on Saturday. Eat from food trucks, listen to live bands and sample beer from over 50 breweries at Liberty Station.
  4. See creepy and crawly creatures at the Reptile Super Show all weekend. One of the world’s largest reptile shows and it’s happening downtown!
  5. Celebrate the 4th some more with Star Spangled Pops on Saturday. Hear patriotic music and enjoy the cool San Diego night at the Embarcadero.
  6. Clean the Oceanside Pier with Coastal Sol on Sunday morning. Spend a few hours making one of our beautiful coastal scenes clear of garbage.
  7. Relax on a beach. If not this weekend, when will you?
  8. Watch some futbol on Saturday for the San Diego Clasico at Petco Park. Cheer on this soccer match as the Tijuana Xolos play Club America.
  9. Go to a Farmers Market. There are at least 5 happening every single day in San Diego so there’s no excuse. Two big ones this weekend: Little Italy on Saturday and Hillcrest on Sunday.
  10. Keep on celebrating the USA at the Lawn Program in Balboa Park on Sunday. The International Cottages and the House of USA are hosting an afternoon of festivities such as a banjo band and an Uncle Sam impersonator.
