Best Beaches in San Diego

Best Beaches in San Diego from The Wanderer Guides Blog. #sandiego

San Diego is America’s finest city right? Part of what makes San Diego so fine is its beautiful weather and ample supply of beaches. Not all beaches are created equal though! Here are some of the best beaches in San Diego:

  • Cardiff-by-the-Sea
    Best for Surfers
If you want to surf (or be thoroughly entertained by surfers in your beach jaunt), hang out in Cardiff-by-the-Sea.
  • Coronado Beach
    Best for Relaxation
Coronado Beach is never too crowded (at least compared to other beaches in the city) and it always feels mellow and fine.
  • La Jolla Shores
    Best for People Watching
There are always people in La Jolla Shores and it’s always a diverse crowd. In our book, this makes the Shores great for peeking over a book to spy on those around you or full out stare behind your dark shades.
  • Mission Bay
    Best for Cookouts and Parties
Mission Bay is pretty. There’s a great walkway for running, rollerblading or biking, and there’s plenty of space to have your group gathering in your own grass patch.
  • Mission Beach
Best for Having a Good Time
There’s a lot to do in Mission Beach beyond tanning and surfing. Play around in Belmont Park. Ride the perfect waves at WaveHouse. Stroll the boardwalk. Shop for some goodies. Spend all day and night there!
  • Ocean Beach
    Best All-Around
Great for surfing, great for shopping, great for tanning, great for walking, great for people watching. Great for feeling like a San Diegan.
  • Pacific Beach
    Best for Feeling Young
Great place to go if you’re high school or college age (or really really wish you were). Ride bikes, drink some beer and have a good time here.
  • Silver Strand
    Best for RV’s
We always envy those lucky enough to have their own campers. Silver Strand is fun by day and perfect at night if you have your own camper.
  • Torrey Pines
    Best for the Active
Torrey Pines State Reserve gives those with a love of hiking a chance to indulge while hitting the soft sand when they’re done. Great photo opps!
  • Windansea Beach
    Best for Engagement Photos
One half of The Wanderer Guides worked for a photographer and spent many days helping with shoots here. Trust us, if you want photos with a beach setting, pick Windansea.
